To get a better idea of what would be possible with JS I started to look at some basic JS
functionality involving Ajax. Also did some research into RE in JS, this could be really
helpful when parsing the search criteria which the user inputs. Also did some quick
investigation into KOS.

Forming the brief

OK, having a quick go at forming a more succinct brief using the project guidebook as a
rough outline. Doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere fast, I think it's time to go and
do some more research.
Research Element
Existing web-based search interfaces.
Use of dictionaries, thesauri and other knowledge systems to expand
search capabilities.
Existing web-services which are available free-of-charge that provide
results from search engines.

Project Aims
Create a search interface which uses dictionaries, thesauri and other
knowledge systems to enable users to explicitly refine the criterion of
their searches.
The interface should use JavaScript, and potentially Ajax, so as to allow
the search interface to update efficiently without the need for the entire
page to be reloaded.
The interface is to be used as a layer of abstraction between the user and
the databases which are being searched. The system should include the
capacity to search different digital KOS, for example, wikis, libraries and
STAR.
